After completing a Masters in Social Work in 1992, I began working with children, adolescents and parents in school, agency and medical settings. These professional experiences led me to begin a private practice in 2008, when I expanded my practice to include adults, couples and families.
I am often asked “how do you do it…?” Or, “why are you a therapist…?” My answers are simple: This work is a calling, and I was drawn to intimate and private conversations and connecting with other humans since childhood.
The decision to try psychotherapy, however, is not so simple for many. If you are new to this, you may have been influenced by social media, friends, family, film and television or even politics. Those of you who are parents will know that the experience of pregnancy, adoption, and raising a child cannot be understood until you are there and living it. The experience of sitting with a professional therapist and being seen, heard and unconditionally accepted may not be fully understood until you are experiencing it. I believe the right fit with right provider in itself is healing. The approach and professional training such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, EMDR and DBT are very important and strategic; however, with the connection and felt sense of unconditional positive regard, those strategies hold a great deal more of effectiveness and healing.
As a social worker, I see psychosocial, substance abuse and mental health struggles through the lens of oppressed and marginalized groups. I believe racism, sexism/misogyny, poverty, trans and homophobia and any other form of bigotry are significant contributors to victimization and trauma people live with every day. These harms directly affect an individual’s overall functioning and feelings of safety and security.
I would describe my style and approach as proactive and direct as well as deeply empathetic and attuned. It takes a great deal of courage to show up and explore parts of yourself that may be uncomfortable, and I believe by doing so, you are valuing your mental health and well being.
Out of the office, I enjoy walking my dogs, spending time in nature, trying new recipes and knitting.

Speaking of strategies, I am trained and experienced in the following therapeutic approaches:
Individual psychotherapy $160 per 50 minute session.
Couples/Families $175 per 60 minute session.
I offer a sliding scale on a case by case basis.
I am an “out of network” provider and do not bill insurance carriers. Upon request, I offer a Superbill which allows you to submit directly to your carrier for reimbursement.
The No Surprises Act is a federal law designed to protect consumers from unexpected medical bills. It primarily focuses on preventing surprise billing in certain scenarios, particularly for emergency services, non-emergency services at in-network facilities from out-of-network providers, and air ambulance services.
